Staff and Supervisors

The EWS is run by the director (Prof. Piumarta) assisted by several knowledgeable, dedicated, and enthusiastic supervisors. Supervisors are students who have used the EWS extensively and understand the equipment, the materials, and the management of the space.

What do supervisors do?

Supervisors look after the EWS and its users, especially ensuring safety and equal access to equipment and resources. Some specific tasks of supervisors include:

For safety reasons, a supervisor (or the director) must be present at all time the EWS is being used. Supervisors can unlock the EWS and normally they will let you into the room to work on your project at any time. Please cooperate with them if they announce the EWS is closing, for example when the last supervisor has to leave the room.
